TSA Secure Flight Program
Secure Flight is a new program federally mandated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The mission of Secure Flight is to enhance the security of air travel through the use of improved watch list matching.
What does this mean for me?
Effective May 15, 2009, when purchasing a ticket you will be required to provide your full name (first, middle, last and suffix) as it appears on the government-issued photo ID you will present when traveling (e.g. driver's license, passport, etc.).
Beginning August 15, 2009, you will also be required to provide your gender and date of birth when booking flights.
AirTran Airways will send the information you provide when booking to the TSA, and TSA will match it against the No Fly and Selectee watch lists.
How will I benefit?
The traveling public will benefit from the Secure Flight program through improved security on all flights and reduced rates of misidentification of passengers who have names similar to those on the TSA watch list.
