AirTran Airways understands that you may have concerns about your privacy, and we want to assure you that we handle your personal information confidentially.
What information do you gather during the booking process? How do you use it?
When you purchase tickets on our web site, we gather only the information necessary to complete the transaction. This includes:
- Passenger names (first, middle and last)
- Purchaser name
- Contact address
- Billing address
- Phone number
- Fax number (optional)
- Email address
- Credit card number and expiration date
Beginning August 15, 2009, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires us to also collect gender and date of birth from each passenger when booking flights.
This information is used for the purpose of completing your reservation, emailing a confirmation to you, and providing the air travel services you have purchased from us. In addition, select passenger information is sent to the TSA to comply with Secure Flight program regulations.
During your purchase, we also give you the option to sign up for our Net Escapes and A-Savers email programs (see below for more details), as well as our A+ Rewards frequent flyer program, if you are not already a member.
Once inflight, AirTran Airways representatives may collect credit card information to enable inflight purchases.

AirTran Airways does not sell or rent any personal information you provide on our web site to any other parties. We may share your information with partner companies as necessary in the course of our operations, including the execution of marketing programs, but these partner companies must comply with our privacy policy. AirTran Airways may share anonymous, aggregated information about all our users with third parties.
Additionally, AirTran Airways will comply with applicable laws that may require us to share your information with government agencies.

Net Escapes is an optional program that allows you to receive email notification of sale fares or special programs being offered by AirTran Airways. The Net Escapes program is completely optional. Each email you receive from us includes instructions at the bottom on how to remove yourself from the Net Escapes mailing list.
A-Savers is an optional program that allows you to receive occasional email notification of special offers from select companies. We do not share your information with these companies; rather we pass their offers on to you ourselves. The A-Savers program is completely optional. Each email you receive includes instructions at the bottom on how to remove yourself from the A-Savers mailing list.

Once you have joined our A+ Rewards program , you may store personal data in your profile as a convenience for quicker future bookings with AirTran Airways. The information that can be stored in your profile includes:
- Passenger names (first, middle and last)
- Birth date
- Gender
- Seat preference
- Contact address
- Phone number
- Email address
- Passport information
- Credit card number and expiration date
- Billing address
Your credit card information is safely stored via our secure server, which encrypts all submitted credit card information. Only the last 4 digits of your credit card number are displayed on the AirTran Airways website once the information has been saved in your profile. Your credit card information is retrieved from the server and applied to the booking each time you purchase a ticket for an AirTran Airways flight and select the saved credit card for billing.
As an A+ Rewards member, you have the opportunity to subscribe to A+ Rewards emails which include periodic member updates and announcements of special offers and promotions. The A+ Rewards email program is optional and each email you receive includes instructions at the bottom on how to remove yourself from the A+ Rewards mailing list.
To access and edit your profile information at any time, log into your A+ Rewards account and click on ‘my profile’. Any other requests for changing your A+ Rewards profile information can be made by calling 1-888-3-A-PLUS-8 (1-888-327-5878).

Minors
In accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, AirTran Airways does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you are under the age of 13, please do not provide your name, address, phone number or any other personally identifiable information of any kind.
If you are a parent or Guardian of a child under the age of 13 who has provided us with information without you knowledge or consent, you may request that we remove this information by contacting us online or calling us at 1-888-3-A-PLUS-8 (1-888-327-5878).

Our online reservation system resides on a secure server that encrypts your purchase information using Secure Socket Layers. You can verify that you are making your purchase on our secure server by looking for two things: (1) the padlock icon in the bottom status bar of your browser, and (2) the "s" after "http" in the address line in your browser (example: https://www.airtran.com).
After we receive your information, we safeguard the data with both physical and electronic measures.
