Baggage Claims
Claims for damaged or delayed baggage must be submitted before
leaving the airport after arrival. Notice may be provided within
24 hours of arrival if claimant establishes he/she was unable to give
notice at the airport for good cause. Good cause will be determined at
the sole discretion of AirTran Airways. Liability for loss, delay, or
damage is limited unless a higher value is declared in advance and
additional charges are paid. Although excess valuation may be
declared on certain types of articles, AirTran Airways' liability for lost,
damaged or delayed baggage is limited to $3,000 per fare-paying
customer for travel solely between U.S. points.
Liability for loss, damage or delay associated with international travel
(including domestic portions of international journeys) is limited to
$9.07 per pound ($20.00 per kilo) for checked baggage and $400.00
per passenger for unchecked baggage, unless a higher value is
declared in advance and additional charges are paid. Liability is for
a maximum of 70 lbs. ($640.00) per checked bag. The limit may be
lowered for additional pieces to certain destinations or when using
connecting carriers..
AirTran Airways assumes no liability for fragile, valuable or perishable
items transported to, from or within the U.S.
