My Story

AirTran Airways would like to thank all of our passengers for submitting their wonderful stories!
In honor of our 15 years of service, we wanted you to share your stories with us and you did! During the submission period, we received so many stories about how our friendly Crew Members and low fares have made a difference in your lives. These stories of one special flight, of an affordable family vacation, or of a city or route addition that made it easier to visit family or business associates have been great to hear.
We have awarded flights for the best stories in each of the following 4 categories:

Lisa's Story
Last summer I surprised my two daughters with their first-time flight and vacation from Chicago to Orlando/Disney World. Being a single mom and being on a budget, I wanted to make sure I got the best rates. I kept the trip a secret for over 3 months and after they went to sleep the night before departure, I secretly packed our suitcases and put them into the trunk of the car. We drove to the airport the next morning and they thought we were picking up a friend. I parked the car at the airport and I opened the trunk for each of them to find their packed bags! They did not realize where we were going until we reached the gate. On our return flight, we were offered an upgrade to Business Class for a reasonable rate and I decided to splurge. The girls and I pretended to be Hollywood stars on a luxury trip! We had a blast! The flight crew was awesome. Thank you, AirTran!

Bobbette's Story
I was flying from New York to Charlotte on Halloween when I saw this amazing looking man at my gate staring at me. We locked eyes and there was just some kind of spark that doesn't happen to you in your 40's! I boarded the plane and was checking for my seat when I realized he was in my row! One problem, I was the window seat and he was the aisle. I wanted the opportunity to talk with him during the flight but I knew if I didn't do something quickly, someone would set between us! He was working on his computer and didn't see me so I tapped him on the shoulder and said “Excuse me, Pumpkin" (as it was Halloween) but I think you are in my seat! He laughed and said, “I’m sorry. I'm always the aisle. I just assumed... “ I said "just move over one". We talked all the way and had a dinner date by the time we hit baggage claim! I flew to see him every other week for a year. We are now engaged and I have moved! AirTran is always our first choice. I thank AirTran for the love of my life!

Kirsten's Story
My home is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and I have always chosen our hometown airline for my air travel needs. However, in February of 2008, I was flying to Orlando for business. As AirTran came in with a substantially cheaper nonstop flight, I reluctantly made my reservation. Upon check in, I noticed outstanding customer service, something that seems lost in this day and age. Also, I was able to easily upgrade my seat to Business Class for a very low cost. And this still kept my ticket cheaper than my old preferred airline. Upon boarding the plane, the staff was extremely friendly. I also noticed throughout the flight that AirTran had really focused on the small details that are so important like satellite radio and a courteous, efficient and professional staff. On my return flight, again, I was treated extremely well and the flight was on time. I must say, I was extremely impressed. After further researching AirTran’s fares and destinations, I can safely say I have found a new preferred airline with AirTran. Thank you AirTran for bringing back Customer Service!

Richards's Story
My Last Minute Travel Story involves a trip to the 2008 World Series in Tampa, FL. I couldn’t get a game ticket in Philadelphia so I kicked around the idea of going to Tampa. My wife told me if you really want to go, give AirTran a call. I told her that it would be impossible to get an airline ticket two days in advance. Well, I was wrong. The call to AirTran turned into the greatest experience of my life…a trip to the World Series in Tampa. I spent less money for the round trip airfare ticket, game ticket in Tampa, hotel and car rental than what I would have to pay for just a game ticket in Philadelphia. The flight was loaded with Phillies Fans and the flight crew wore Phillies hats. The pilot even made announcements wishing the Phillies good luck. I also got to visit the Phillies spring training facility in Clearwater…a life long dream of mine. Although the Phillies lost in Game 2, I will never forget my trip to the 2008 World Series in Tampa. Thanks to AirTran Airways! "Keep Up the Good Work".
Although this contest is over, please check back soon for our next great promotion!
