Seat Assignments

Can I reserve my seat before the flight?

AirTran Airways offers several advance seat assignment options. All customers will receive a seat assignment prior to or during check-in for their flight.

Customers traveling in Business Class or on Regular coach fares (Y, B or M class) may select their seat assignment at the time of booking. All Discount and Sale coach fares (Q, K, L and other classes) have the option to purchase seat assignments at the time of booking or any time prior to check-in for $6.00 per passenger per one-way trip (nonstop or connecting). You may view the seating options and make your selection during the booking process or, you may retrieve your reservation and select your seat assignments at a later time.

Exit row coach seating (with additional leg room) is also available for purchase at a cost of $20 per passenger per one-way trip (nonstop or connecting). All customers choosing exit row seating (whether purchased in advance or assigned at check-in) must meet certain requirements to qualify for exit row seating. Passengers must be 15 years of age or older, willing and able to help in the event of an emergency, able to speak and understand English, must be able to lift 50 pounds, able to travel without using a seat belt extender and may not be traveling with an infant, children or pets.

Customers with disabilities may request a seat assignment at the time of booking by contacting the AirTran Airways Reservations Center. A2B Corporate customers may request a seat assignment by booking online or contacting the A2B Corporate Desk. A+ Rewards Elite members may request a seat assignment by booking online or contacting the A+ Rewards Desk.

Bulkhead seating can only be assigned by an AirTran Airways Crew Member at the airport.
